The Urban Community House will be Copenhagen’s first community house for homeowners and citizens. The idea for the community house is a result of combining the mandatory 1% of space from all homes that is allocated shared functions. The house will hold shared functions for about 2,800 homes in new residential area Ørestad South, Copenhagen – and will be accessible for all residents in Copenhagen.
NORD Architects developed a building programme for the client based on extensive user research with the homeowners and other relevant stakeholders. The process uncovered functional needs, challenges and potentials as well as qualifying spatial connections in the community house. The house will have a café, meetings rooms for local associations, space for playing music, indoor sports such as dance and gymnastics, workshops, kitchens, creative studios, quiet zones, etc.
