The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) is an institution that offers education in architecture, building preservation, design, landscape architecture and urban planning. The school has rented its building from Statsbygg in Oslo since 2001. As the number of students has almost doubled since then, and AHO expect further growth in student numbers until 2025, they’re experiencing a growing pressure on the facilities as the current capacity has exceeded its max.
NORD Architects were selected as project consultants to explore the possibilities for addressing these challenges and have developed a solid basis for future decision-making, demonstrating how the school’s space needs can be addressed.
The material is based on several different scenarios, describing options for expansion, new construction, and relocation. NORD Architects has assisted AHO and Statsbygg in leading the decision-making process, including the preparation of project and timeline, as well as process description. Additionally, we have carried out user involvement and presented extensive sketching of possible solutions.
The preliminary investigation has concluded with a report about the different scenarios, along with an analysis and description of their respective advantages and disadvantages.
