In Bodø, just North of the arctic circle in Norway, lies Alstad Primary School for which Nord Architects (along with the Norwegian office 3RW arkitekter) have designed the programme for a new school. The design and functional programme is based on extensive user involvement and research and will be located between the existing primary and secondary school.
The upcoming facility, designed to accommodate 400 students, will include spaces for teachers, a school nurse, mental health counsellor, along with staff rooms, meeting areas, group rooms, and changing rooms.
In total this will amount to 6,000 m2, which will be designed to also create opportunities for shared use with the surrounding residential area. Additionally, the project involves the development of a new outdoor area at the current school site.
Nestled near the sea and closeness to the secondary school and recreational spaces, the primary school holds an ideal location that holds significance for many residents, offering various potential uses.
